Kathryn Crowley, Artist at heart

Ever since Kathryn was a child it was older buildings that captured her heart. There was something in the way the light hit the hand hewn solid beams, and the strength, beauty, and stories that lived in the old buildings that could be felt much differently than the disposable era of building and construction we live in today.

In 2015, she began a two-year study of historic preservation at the North Bennet Street School in Boston, where she learned 17th -18th century building techniques. It was learning how historic buildings were once constructed that allowed her to develop a greater appreciation for the craft, and develop her fingerprint in the design world.

After graduation Kathryn left her hometown of Sharon, Massachucetts and showed up at the doorstep of Heritage Restorations in Waco, Texas with a dream to restore older barns. Over the course of three years Kathryn documented, dismantled, designed, and constructed several barns that can be seen on the show “Restoration Road with Clint Harp” on Magnolia Network.

Her journey continued as she linked forces with fellow NBSS Preservation Carpentry alumni Brent Hull of Hull Homes and Hull Millwork in Fort Worth, TX in 2021. Her most noteworthy project was as a Designer & Superintendent for a renovation of a 1935 residence, where she was involved from the conceptual stage through completion.

In her free time Kathryn is always on the hunt for antiques to build a curated collection of home goods. She is passionate about creating spaces inside and out of the home to be authentic, inviting, and timeless.
